[Club contact]

The Post Office Vehicle Club was formed in 1962 by a group
of people whose interest in the GPO fleet started between the wars. Since
then, the Club has expanded and with the publication of a number of booklets
on the GPO fleet and its successors, the Post Office and BT, interest in
Post Office vehicles has grown with the Club.
The Club was formed to bring together people interested
in current operations and vehicle purchases, and this interest remains
to this day and vehicle news forms a majority of the information published
each month in our magazine. Today's new vehicles are tomorrow's preserved
vehicles and we have set about building up a complete historical record
of all vehicles operated from 1906 to the present day.
Unlike other Clubs with preservation interests, the nature
of the GPO fleet means that we cannot offer a spare part service for members.
Instead, we concentrate on helping our members with specialist GPO fittings
such as door locks, roof-racks etc. and leave the spares service to specialist
make clubs.
Other specialist help we can give to preservationists
is vehicle allocation information while we have had a number of the transfers
from GPO days reprinted to complete the restoration of vehicles. The Club
is the DVLA-approved Club for the reissue of registrations for GPO vehicles,
subject to the owner being able to provide adequate documentary evidence
of the vehicle, we can usually authenticate a particular vehicle and registration.
Our illustrated monthly magazine "Post Horn"
keeps members informed on current vehicle developments with Royal Mail,
Parcelforce and BT fleets. Other regular features are details of historic
vehicles discovered, whether for sale or restored. Special features cover
a variety of related subjects including the transport operations of overseas
Postal and Telephone administrations
