THE FORD MK II INDEPENDENT OWNERS CLUB

The aim of the club

Firstly to keep the MKIIs on the road and in running condition. Secondly to help our members to enjoy their MK IIs with car shows, events, rallies and fun days. We do not criticize or nit-pick about members cars, because of a bit of rust, wrong colour, wheels, trim or different engines etc. All we ask for our efforts, is that as many turn up at events etc. because it is all organised for you to enjoy, so don't be shy if your MK II is not in concours condition, just come along, get to know your fellow members, even in a brand X if necessary. We will be glad to see you.

The early models were known as Hi-lines, then in February 1959 a flatter roof, and other alterations were made, e.g. dash, rear lights etc. this later model was known as the Lowline. This is turn was modified in 1961 to end of production in April 1962, this was also the Lowline, but known as the 375 on Consul models. This later model of the Consul Zephr and Zodiac were fitted with disc brakes and servo unit, and also had sealed beam headlights as standard.

There was also the pick-up or utility, which was only availble on the Australian market, although a few have now been imported back to the U.K. Fords also made a pillarless coupe, but it never went into general production.
