THE FORD MK II INDEPENDENT OWNERS CLUB
The aim of the club
Firstly to keep the MKIIs on the road and in running condition.
Secondly to help our members to enjoy their MK IIs with car shows, events,
rallies and fun days. We do not criticize or nit-pick about members cars,
because of a bit of rust, wrong colour, wheels, trim or different engines
etc. All we ask for our efforts, is that as many turn up at events etc.
because it is all organised for you to enjoy, so don't be shy if your MK
II is not in concours condition, just come along, get to know your fellow
members, even in a brand X if necessary. We will be glad to see you.
Membership fee -- £12 (gbp) per year for U.K. members
Membership fee -- £16 (gbp) per year for overseas members
Renewals are Jan. May. July. Sept. Nov issued with newsletter

and windscreen sticker.

The MKII s were launched on February 21st 1956. The early
models were known as Hi-lines, then in February 1959 a flatter roof, and
other alterations were made, e.g. dash, rear lights etc. this later model
was known as the Lowline. This is turn was modified in 1961 to end of production
in April 1962, this was also the Lowline, but known as the 375 on Consul
models. This later model of the Consul Zephr and Zodiac were fitted with
disc brakes and servo unit, and also had sealed beam headlights as standard.
The MK II range came as saloons, convertibles and estate cars, known as
Abbots Farnham Estates. There was also the pick-up or utility, which was
only availble on the Australian market, although a few have now been imported
back to the U.K. Fords also made a pillarless coupe, but it never went
into general production.
Ford reconditioned exchange engines were available from
Dec 1960, the exchange price was £39 for the 4 cyl and £53
for the 6cyl. Clutch pressure plate and centre plate were also exchangeable
at £5-15s for the 4cyl and £6-0-6d for the 6 cyl.
