The Association of British VW Clubs was formed in 1987 and celebrates its tenth year this year. It now comprises 39 fully independent clubs representing around 5,000 members nationwide. The Association is an umbrella organisation bringing together most of Britain's VW Clubs.

The main body of members own a VW Beetle. This car first made its way into the U.K. in 1947 and it is now 50 years since its first official import. We also have Mexican Beetle owners and enthusiasts who have gone over to Golf GTis etc. The ABVWC is involved in three VW Meets a year. Stoner Park, near Henley on Thames, is the first Sunday of June, VW Expo is in July and the National VW Indoor Fair is held at Montem Sports Hall, Slough in November.
